The Royal and Fortescue Refurbishment 2018
In the summer of 2018, we've given key areas of the hotel a brand new look. Our popular lounge area with its well-renowned comfortable sofas, in which our local regulars and residents alike enjoy relaxing with coffee and cake (don’t worry, equally as comfy sofas have taken their place!). Also undergone a makeover is the RF Restaurant, where residents wake up to take breakfast and is home to our locally famous carvery!
We always strive to provide the best settings possible and this latest refurb will continue our trend of bringing new life to an old building with lots of history.
Previously we undertook similar work in 2002 and 2011, and we know our guests will love this year's work too.
What we have done...
These changes will not affect the way you use our hotel and enjoy what we have to offer, our aim is to raise our game in terms of providing a place you can continue to relax, dine and socialise in.
The lounge and restaurant have been repainted and recarpeted throughout. We have also overhauled our furniture, replacing all 170 pieces of furniture.
The lounge bar has also received a complete makeover. Local carpenter and furniture designer, David Glover, provided a new sleek bar with granite worktops and new displays, as he did for Bar 62.
The lounge now has a new heating and cooling system throughout as well as a new fireplace and new TV screens to sometimes show special events and sports.
Our Bar 62 lounge remains unchanged after it was refurbished extensively in 2016.
We thank you for your patience whilst we undertook this refurbishment.
