Barnstaple Christmas Light Switch On 2018
There guarantees to be a wonderful festive mix of entertainment and music live on stage before the countdown to the big switch on at 6pm.
Events to beginning in the Pannier Market before moving to The Square in Barnstaple from 4pm, where there will be entertainment and fun for all the family. Music and inspirational local people will feature.
There will also be a fun fair on the strand and many of the town's shops will be open for business. The stars of 2018's Peter Pan pantomime will be making an appearance, and a community-nominated star will be pressing the button to turn on the lights.
It starts with a street food party in the Pannier Market alongside family fun and celebration - and a world record attempt! Local dance schools will be taking part in the annual Children in Need Tapathon world record attempt at 1pm!
You can also enjoy a family fun fair on the Strand, visit Santa in his grotto at Green Lanes Shopping Centre, or make a start on your Christmas shopping!
Before the main lights are illuminated, there will be also a chance to support the North Devon Hospice and Children’s Hospice South West’s ‘Light up a Life’ campaign, as a special star is lit up to mark the launch of the appeal.
The full line up for the Square is as follows:
4pm: Children’s choir (featuring Yazzy)
4.45pm: Reuben Jones (featuring Small Town Jones)
5.15pm: Launch of Light up a Life Campaign (ND Hospice and CHSW)
5.30pm: Pantomime stars from Barnstaple's most spectacular Panto ever, Peter Pan!
6pm: Lights switch-on
